Director Ole Bornedal and horror master Sam Raimi bring to you yet another movie that will send a chill down your spine. It is based on a true story on a cabinet which went on sale on Ebay in 2004 which was rumored to contain evil spirits. This cabinet was brought to America by a holocaust survivor from the World War II times. Em Brenek (Natasha Calis), a little girl whose parents are about to be divorced, buys a small liquor cabinet in a yard sale one day. What she didn’t know was that among a lot of other items that constituted the contents of the box, an evil spirit lived in the wooden artifact. Despite her father’s suggestion, Em opens that box and releases the spirit. With each passing day she starts acting weird. As her behavior becomes more and more erratic, her father Clyde Brenek (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and mother Stephanie Brenek (Kyra Sedgwick) think it’s the divorce that is affecting her. Soon they realize that it is the cabinet that is harming her. They turn towards doctors and rabbis when her behavior becomes extreme. They do brain scans and consult exorcists to find out why the evil spirit still stays in this world and how to pacify it. They find out that the box is supposed to contain a dibbuk, a malicious possessing spirit that is believed to be the dislocated soul of a dead person. They learn that the dibbuk inhabits and ultimately devours its human host.
